Today I got a polite "no" from the law firm I interviewed with last week. I'm starting to believe the
New York Times, the
Wall Street Journal, and
too many blogs to count when they say I'll never find a job in this business. But there's no point in second-guessing myself now. I'll be in my seat with pen in hand when summer classes start next week.

It's concerning that you're on law review and still don't have a job lined up. I'm considering law school, but stories like this make me seriously reconsider it on a daily basis. If someone on law review can't find a job, what does that say about the rest of the class?
My theory is that my poor showing in the job market is due to my inability to navigate the old boys' network. My academic record is good, but I haven't been attending bar association meetings or CLEs and schmoozing to the extent that some of my classmates have. When a hiring attorney is faced with an A student he's never heard of and a B student he's met three or four times, the B student is going to get the job.
